“Some of us are ancient enough to remember watching late-night cable in the ’80s and early ’90s: discovering crazy new shows and movies, hanging out with our friends and building awesome memories together,” says CouchCutter.tv founder David Anthony. “It wasn’t just TV, it was an event. We want to give that back to cult cinema fans in a way that makes sense for the 21st century.”

Viewers can tweet along using the #couchcutter hashtag on Twitter, watching live with fans all over the world from virtually any internet-connected device. Roku owners can easily connect to almost any television and watch from anywhere: HDTV at a bar or party, a friend’s house or from the comfort of their own living room.

“We are leveraging the technology available to us in hopes of making a real impact on the lives of cult, horror and fantasy enthusiasts,” Anthony adds, “To bring genre fans joy and fellowship through live broadcast entertainment, provide organizations with a unique and powerful promotional platform, and help independent filmmakers and distributors earn money from their content in an increasingly difficult industry.”

CouchCutter.tv is currently accepting submissions for independent shorts, features and series for consideration in the 2015 lineup. Submission fees have been reduced until October 15, 2014.

Ever wonder whats going in Twin Peaks nowadays?

So since they released out that amazing Twin Peaks box set, the rumors have been flying about a new movie, a new season, a new anything. Well  earlier this month Lynch posted a tweet “Dear Twitter Friends: That gum you like is going to come back in style!” Of course we know that as a quote from the show and had hoped something really was coming back in style. Well today Lynch tweeted “Dear Twitter Friends… it is happening again.” and supplied us with a link!

Lynch Tweets

This may be the greatest day in horror/genre news!

“The groundbreaking television phenomenon, Golden Globe® and Peabody Award-winner TWIN PEAKS will return as a new limited series on SHOWTIME in 2016. Series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost will write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series, and Lynch will direct every episode. Set in the present day, TWIN PEAKS will continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series’ passionate fan base.”

Look’s like I will be getting Show Time again.

Scream Factory Gives Us An Update on the Vault of Horror release!

SF have finally located an actual UNCUT HD copy of the Vault of Horror at the British Film Institute! This is awesome news!

Read on for the full press release!

**VAULT OF HORROR Update**

For all of you waiting patiently for our double feature blu-ray release of TALES FROM THE CRYPT / VAULT OF HORROR on 12/2, we have some very good news to report to you on VAULT…

When we found out that the Fox HD master we licensed was the theatrical cut, we went searching for an uncut film element. This was a challenge since the film is over 40 years old and somewhat obscure. At some point we started to accept that that we were going to have to splice DVD footage of the uncut footage (lifted from a prior UK release) into the theatrical cut to be able to present it uncut, as promise when we announced. We tried that and the results were not great. Still, we thought this was the best we were going to be able to get.

Thankfully, there was rumor that the British Film Institute had done a restoration on the film years ago. We contacted them and, sure enough, BFI had done an HD transfer from a film print–and it was the UNCUT version! We quickly had a clone made of their master and then removed dirt and scratches from it to the best of our resources.

The release is now a 2-disc set. The first disc will include TALES and VAULT’s uncut widescreen. The 2nd disc will include VAULT’s theatrical cut (from the Fox master) and a rare open-matte version of the BFI master.

We thank you for your patience on the delay of this release and hope you will find that our presentation of these films will have been worth the wait!

Scream Factory has been busy already this Oct!

So we are four days into the month of October and Scream Factory has been making announcements left and right! One the first they announced a double feature blu-ray for LOVE AT FIRST BITE and ONCE BITTEN. I could honestly do without this release. On the second they announced they will be releasing CLASS OF 1984 on blu-ray as a “Collector’s Edition.” I am very much looking forward to this one! They then announced two more releases, the first being SUPERNOVA starring James Spader and I can honestly say I have no idea what this movie is. Last but definitely not least a double feature of epic proportions, BLACULA and SCREAM BLACULA SCREAM! All I can say is it’s about time! That Blacula is one smooth brotha.

I would personally love to see Scream Factory release TRICK OR TREAT from 1986! Sammi Curr needs to rock on in the afterlife in HD!

Read on for the official release info and photos!

***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***

Good morning everyone. We start our month-long “Shocktober” celebration with a new title announcement (one of several this month). Actually, we have TWO films to reveal today that will be in a double-feature: The horror comedies LOVE AT FIRST BITE (with George Hamilton) and ONCE BITTEN (with Jim Carrey)! This is the first time on the Blu-ray format for both films and is expected to land near Valentine’s Day 2015. No details on extras at this time.

Re: LOVE AT FIRST BITE – We are aware that prior DVD versions of the film were altered, specifically during a key moment in a disco in which the song “I Love the Nightlife” song (sung by Alicia Bridges) was replaced by another track. We are doing our best to correct this and will keep you posted on the progress.

Stay tuned this month for many more surprises!

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***

Our month-long “Shocktober” celebration continues with yet another new reveal (one of several this month). Next Spring we will unleash the vengeance-filled cult favorite CLASS OF 1984 as a “Collector’s Edition” for the first time on the blu-ray format!

Although this is not a “horror film” in the true sense of the word we thought it was suitably violent, edgy and dark enough to warrant inclusion in the brand (Not to mention it has a strong following). The Director himself – Mark L. Lester – is very on board with this strategy as well. Those of you who love the film know what a gem it is and that it sports a great cast that includes Perry King (Mandingo, Riptide), Roddy McDowell (Fright Night, The Legend of Hell House), Lisa Langlois (Deadly Eyes, Happy Birthday to Me), Timothy Van Patten (The Sopranos) and even Michael J. Fox in an early role.

No details on extras at this time but they will be announced next year. Stay tuned for more surprises this month!

Play Hooky Coming From Wild Eye Oct 21

You’ll Never Skip School Again

Play Hooky Coming to DVD October 21st

From Wild Eye Releasing

New York, NY — Wild Eye Releasing, a longtime sponsor of the PollyGrind Film Festival, has announced the upcoming October 21 DVD and VOD release of Frank S. Petrilli’s Play Hooky.  A hit among critics and audiences, the film took home the Most Innovative Film award at the PollyGrind Film Festival and is the first film to be released on Wild Eye’s PollyGrind Presents label.  Wicked Channel called Play Hooky “the best found footage film of 2014”.

Wild Eye CEO Rob Hauschild said, “Wild Eye is dedicated to giving independents like Play Hooky a position in the mainstream through traditional distribution and PollyGrind is ground zero for discovering true independent talent.  Joining forces was the perfect step to propel both our missions.”

Five high school friends skip class in hopes of finding the perfect spot to party. They chose the wrong place. Against all warnings, they break into an abandoned mental hospital, notorious for reports of ghost sightings, satanic rituals and demon possessions. Now, armed only with a camera, they are trapped inside, haunted and hunted by something they cannot stop, reason with, or describe. The camera captures every last breath in the fight for their lives.

The DVD release of Play Hooky (SRP $14.95) will exclusively feature hours of bonus features: a feature length commentary with the director, cast and crew, an introduction by PollyGrind’s Chad Clinton Freeman, two short films, bonus scenes, trailers, and an alternate ending.
